$20 Suggested Donation - no one turned away.
Everyone Welcome!

Kirtan is a sacred call-and-response type of singing that is offered as a devotional practice. Let your heart shine and your voice be heard as we chant the divine names and bask in each others' light. As Shubal says, "You can't sing and think at the same time. Kirtan helps us quiet the mind and experience more peace in our lives."

A kirtan musician for almost 30 years, Shubalananda Saraswati (Larry Kopp) has been leading kirtan and singing bhajan internationally for almost half of his life. He has led kirtan for thousands of people over the years and shared the stage with Krishna Das, Ram Dass, along with his gurus.

Shubal, as most call him, chose the life of a sadhu living on the Dakshina (contributions) of the kirtan communities he serves. He is a regular kirtan wallah at Kripalu Center in Lenox MA and he is out 3-4 nights a week leading kirtan at over 20 yoga centers across New England.

Shubal and Ashley, along with Bob on bass, Greg on drums (and many other wonderful musicians) will be blistering the paint and rocking the rafters as usual.

Please join us for an inspiring and uplifting evening!!!

"If I only had one word to describe our week in Utah with Jo and Bob is would be: PERFECT! Originally, I signed my husband and I up for the yoga ski retreat in Utah because it was the perfect union of both of our passions. He is an avid skier and I love to practice yoga with Jo and Bob. Our week away exceeded my expectations, by a mile. The yoga sessions complimented the skiing perfectly and we felt great, both physically and spiritually because of that (wonderfully led) combination. Both my husband and I ventured into new territories during the trip and felt safe and in good hands, all the while. I highly recommend the ski retreat for any level skier or yoga practitioner. Jo and Bob were so attentive to all of our various needs. It was a glorious week!" - Nancy Wise

"The Heart of the Village Yoga Snowbird ski trip was the highlight of my 2017 ski season. Beautiful winter skiing early in the week and then sunny spring skiing later. Bob and Jo were great at finding terrain for all different abilities, coordinating lunch meeting spots, and planning dinners for those who wanted to join in. And let me tell you, those yogis can ski and teach skiing. I’m loving my new attitude and skills on the cruisers. One more thing, yoga in the morning and evening was awesome for my legs. I was really surprised how the practice kept soreness away and re-energized me each day." - Joe McVicker

"When my friend, Roberta told me about the Heart of the Village Yoga and Ski retreat at Snowbird in Utah (April 2-9, 2017), I jumped at the chance to go skiing with my friend. Little did I know that I would leave the week making many new friends! Jo and Bob led our group through two hours of yoga each day and ski-toured us around the mountain. The yoga and skiing left me refreshed and reinvigorated. The yoga eradicated the ski boot pain…and all other pain, too! The valet service eliminated carrying the skiis :) The themes and stories Jo & Bob shared while leading us through yoga left me thoughtful, hopeful and grounded. I skied six days in a row…I do not recall ever doing so, even as a kid. I am far from a good skier and Snowbird proved to be a challenge for me. But I skied it. Well, some of it. I am thankful that points were not awarded for gracefulness. That I lack. But courage…that, I possess. Thank you, Jo & Bob for a wonderful experience." - Nancy Sardone

April at the 'Bird historically boasts sunny days with spring corn snow as well as powder days. Snowbird is big mountain skiing with long groomers and lots of off-piste skiing. “It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.” – Muhammad Ali

During this immersive workshop, traditional Japa meditation and the practice of affirmations blend to produce powerful results. Aligning yourself with the grounding properties of various stones and crystals, you will be guided in ‘om-making’ your very own Mala prayer necklace. You will infuse your piece with individual and group intentions as you meditatively string beads and connect with the other group members- connecting and discussing the challenges and impact of self-limiting thoughts. From this discussion, we will create powerful affirmations that can be applied toward our lives. You will learn about the significance and metaphysical qualities of the mala materials and be guided on how to use your Mala necklace in conjunction with meditation to ease stress and tension in your life. You will enjoy an intermediate vinyasa practice and the benefits of several gentle restorative poses to move prana through the body while energetically charging your mala and embracing your affirmations.

When practiced regularly, these traditions will inspire peace, calm and happiness while cultivating a resilient heart. You will leave feeling recharged and in-charge with a beautiful, earthy and treasured tool for elevating your practice!

With attention to the breath and sensations in the body, Yin Yoga helps us: balance our yin and yang aspects; Increase the flow of qi or prana in the body; Maintain the health of our connective tissue; Reconnect to the meditative origins of yoga

With silence, poetry and gentle music, we’ll journey together into our own inner spaces to reconnect with ourselves and the healing wisdom that is our true nature.

Storytelling is the most ancient of the healing arts. The way of the storyteller is about more than just telling stories. At it’s core it is a way of seeing and interacting with the world through the stories that are constantly unfolding inside and around us.

Classic teaching stories remind us that our lives ebb and flow; always moving between our youth stories, that teach us to triumph; our mid-life stories, that help us to transform, and our elder stories that remind us that eventually triumph and transformation must give way to transcendence and acceptance.
In these Storytelling workshops we explore the path of the storyteller. Through classic stories we will look at how our own life stories can become our teaching stories, and how as teachers, parents and humans, storytelling helps us share the truth of our own experience. As part of unfolding our stories we will use Yin Yoga, body meditations and sacred sound to look within our own bodies at the places where we so often hold our deepest truths.

This training is a stand-alone training, and is open to anyone who has taken Taoism, Anatomy and Sequencing and Embracing the Yin Path as well as any dedicated yoga students or teachers who are interested in deepening their practice. If you haven’t studied with me before and plan on coming to the third module only, then I ask that you get a copy of The Yin Yoga Kit, and familiarize yourself with the basic concepts, and do some of the practices in the book or CD. The training is suitable for teachers and dedicated practitioners. You don’t need to be a teacher or even experienced in Yin, just come with an open heart and a willing mind.

YOGA OF 12-STEP RECOVERY IS A HOLISTIC MODEL DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL DISEASE OF ADDICTION.

The characteristics and effects of addiction could easily be described as separation. Addictive behaviors disconnect us from ourselves, our loved ones, our environment and so much more.

Conversely, yoga itself means union, integration, balance. Yoga and its practices teach the fine art of balancing our multidimensional lives while living in a complex world.

Yoga of 12-Step Recovery was created as a holistic model to address the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease of addiction. Informed by the latest research in neuroscience and trauma healing, Y12SR “connects the dots” by combining the somatic approach of yoga with the cognitive approach of the 12-step recovery model – the most well-known addiction recovery program in the world, with millions of active practitioners.Y12SR is a donation-based relapse prevention program open to the community and anyone is welcome to attend. One does not need to currently be attending a 12-step program, or currently practice yoga, to participate. Classes are limited for ages 13 and older.
