Hearts Wide Open Kirtan

2-3:30pm, Saturday, February 23, 2019

Join us for a beautiful and heart opening kirtan at Heart of the Village Yoga Center with Hearts Wide Open Kirtan and Friends including Kālidāsa Joseph Getter.

Hearts Wide Open is a group of kirtan-loving souls who are bound together both by their love of the music as well as the impact it has in opening their hearts to each other and to the Divine. They enjoy passing the lead around the group so that you may experience kirtan in a number of different styles and voices. They also bring a unique set of instruments to the kirtan world including a cello, violin, and banjo. The band features:

- Joe Johnson on cello and lead vocals

- Rachel Smith Cote on responding and lead vocals

- Greg Bertsch (Arjuna) on drums and lead vocals

- Alisa Wright Tanny on responding and lead vocals

- Naomi Edelman on responding and lead vocals

- Eleni Yalanis on violin and lead vocals

- Maggie Shar on banjo and lead vocals

- Nathan LaFratta on tabla and lead vocals

You can find Hearts Wide Open:

"Chanting is a significant and mysterious practice. It is the highest nectar, a tonic that fully nourishes our inner being. Chanting opens the heart and makes love flow within us. It releases such intoxicating inner bliss and enthusiastic splendor, that simply through the nectar it generates, we can enter the abode of the Self."

- Swami Muktananda
